How to understand that a gas stove is already unsafe

Gas appliances provide people with comfort, bringing heat to the house, being a fairly economical source of energy for cooking.Therefore, they ceased to be perceived as dangerous devices. But the irresponsible attitude to the gas stove may cost you your life. How to understand that it has become dangerous to use? Read about it later.

Plate safety is the most expensive!

A gas stove has not lost popularity among citizens and residents of the countryside for many years. It has many advantages:

  • long term use;
  • low cost service;
  • reduces cooking time;
  • helps out where there is no electricity and centralized gas supply.

But remember that the natural gas used in its work is an explosive substance, it is necessary constantly. Damage to the stove, even minor ones, can lead to serious consequences: fires, loss of property, loss of life.

How to understand that a gas stove has become life threatening

With problems in the operation of the stove, the ideal option is to call a specialist for diagnostics and maintenance. It is more difficult to do this for residents of remote areas. Therefore it is worth knowing typical malfunctions of gas stoves and their causes. In non-critical cases, you can repair the stove yourself.

What signs of gas stove operation should cause you alarm?

1. Changing the color of the fire of a working burner. When in good condition, the flame has an even blue color. Yellow and red shades indicate incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. With this operation of the burner, traces of soot are formed on the dishes. This, like leakage, can lead to gas poisoning.

Signs of poisoning are dizziness, weakness, irritation of the mucous membrane of the eyes, impaired sleep and appetite.

The cause may be a clogged nozzle or deformation of the flame divider.

2. The smell of gas. It is an obvious sign of leakage due to depressurization of equipment. May provoke explosion and fire. Your actions in this situation: turn off the gas supply, then open the windows for airing the rooms. It is advisable to disconnect all electrical appliances in the house.

Only then can the plate be inspected for signs of leakage.

Soap solution will help to find the place of depressurization. Beating it in foam, apply to all joints of the system and the slab. In the place of bubble formation, there will be a hole through which a gas leak occurs.

3. The burner does not light. If one of several burners does not burn, then the cause is nozzle clogging. And if all do not work, then you should check the operation of electric ignition. Another reason is that gas is not supplied.

4. Weak burning of the flame in all burners. Check if the feed hose is caught between the wall and the stove. If only one burner works poorly, try cleaning the nozzle. If the hose is in order and cleaning is not necessary, the cause may be a low gas pressure in the system. Calling a specialist in this case is required.

Excessively intense flame of one of the burners may indicate nozzle wear, will have to replace it. If all burners burn too much, then the cause is an increased gas pressure in the system or a gearbox malfunction. This is dangerous! Qualified help is indispensable.

5. The cranes of the plate turn poorly. In older cookers, grease clogs the swivel mechanism. It is enough to remove and clean them. If you observe a cranking, then the swivel mechanism is damaged.

6. Self-shutting down of burners. It occurs due to violations in the gas supply control system. The thermo-electromagnetic valve trips the gas supply.

Having engaged in the diagnosis of gas stove malfunctions, do not forget to disconnect it from the mains and gas supply first. It is dangerous to repair and replace parts yourself. Entrust it to professionals. Do not put your family in danger!

And now what i can do

Follow the routine inspection schedule for gas equipment specialists. At least every three years, such an examination should take place. Any suspicion of a malfunction is an occasion to call a gasman!

Be careful yourself, watch the cooking process on the stove, do not leave it unattended.

Purchase a gas leak detector. The device will notify you of any, even minor, leakage.
