ACM in the monitor - what is it?

Do you also get tired after a day of sitting in front of the monitor? Why is it possible to sit in front of one without bothering for days, and from another after half an hour there is a feeling of "sand" in the eyes? We will answer these questions, we will analyze what in the monitor so affects our eyes.

A little physiology

Like a diaphragm in photographic equipment, the opening of the pupil changes depending on the degree of illumination. This is done by two muscle groups responsible for expansion, located radially, narrowing, located around the circumference. This is carried out without our participation, at the level of reflex.

Muscle fibers strained for a long time quickly tire. This especially occurs in strong light, when the pupil is narrowed. In the dark, a person rests, eye fibers relax. But do not force them to work in such conditions - there will be rapid fatigue. With an excess or lack of light, tears are released reflexively, the frequency of blinking increases or slows down, the eyelids tighten - this also affects fatigue.

The reasons

The first reason for eye discomfort depends on the incorrect organization of the workplace. Remember how at school, light should fall on the left. But the real conditions are different - so the offices are planned.

To comfortably spend time at the computer, protect your eyes from excessive loads, you need to properly configure the monitor. During production, the brightness and contrast parameters are greatly overestimated, and users, as a rule, immediately rush into battle, do not adjust for themselves. And setting up a monitor is easy.

Hardware setup

IMPORTANT. Examine the operation buttons. Do not use the "scientific poke" method, take the instructions. It is faster and more efficient.

  • Quality Images. Using the pictures below, we’ll evaluate the quality of the setting - the more numbers differ, the better. Remember the number of digits, you will understand the quality of the adjustment of this parameter.

  • Brightness. We look at the picture below. Adjustment until the suit, shirt, cross in the background become distinguishable.

  • Contrast. Again the image. Buttons and creases on the shirt should vary. Set the parameter to zero, gradually increase the slider until this is achieved.

  • Gamma. It’s most likely that it’s not possible to configure it perfectly, but it’s worth adjusting for yourself. After adjustment, light and dark spots should disappear in the center of the picture.

  • Customize Gray. With the help of settings, we get rid of shades that distort the picture. We achieve by adjusting the three primary colors - red, green, blue. As a result, there should be only shades of gray, nothing more.

Software setting

The menu item - ACM (Adaptive Contrast Control System) is highlighted. Acer chip. Using it improves image detail. Dynamic contrast adjustment occurs - for bright objects it is darker than dark ones - brighter. The image in any case is the most clear. Each frame is analyzed and the picture sharpness is adjusted. Due to this, a high level of white / black is ensured. Using the system, energy is saved, because the energy consumption of the monitor itself is reduced.

So, software calibration. Press the "Start" button, in the search, hammer in the "calibration". We are looking for, run. We pass a series of setup tests.

RESULT. We return to the image with numbers. After all the actions you should see at least one more.
