Laminate on the wall in the living room interior

The location of the laminate on the wall, and not on the floor is a non-standard and bold solution, which, however, has recently become increasingly popular, including among professional interior designers. This is explained not only by the fashion for environmental friendliness and the desire for natural motives, but also by the many positive qualities of the material. Preparatory work will take very little time and effort, while the result is able to fit into a variety of rooms and in any of them will look really stylish and comfortable.

Solution Features

As a rule, it is used to highlight any individual elements of the room and to emphasize. In addition, the laminate on the wall is able to transform the appearance of the room, add originality and uniqueness to it. With it, you can zonate the space, dividing it into sectors with different functional purposes, and, for example, the living room can radically change.

Advantages and disadvantages

Laminate is much stronger than panels made of wood-fiber boards or polyvinyl chloride, which means it will not break and will not leave dents on itself in case of accidental impact. It has a dense structure and in most cases is treated with a protective polymer layer, due to which it is endowed with moisture resistance, and therefore can be used also in the bathroom.

IMPORTANT: Despite this, it is not customary to use the laminate in the bathroom in the shower area, but as a rule, they allocate one of the walls that do not come in direct contact with water. It is also important to take care of the presence of ventilation.

The disadvantages of this solution include the high cost in comparison with the same MDF and PVC, as well as a rather large weight, which is why it is necessary to take special care to ensure the reliability of the fastening. In addition, wall laminate is not recommended to be subjected to sharp temperature jumps. Also, the negative qualities include the impossibility of mounting on an uneven surface and the need in this case to additionally design a special metal or wooden crate.

Laminate on the wall in the living room interior - exclusive solutions

We present to your attention several particularly successful and interesting examples of the use of a laminate in the design of a living room.

The wall-mounted pattern “continues” on the floor, which creates the feeling of endless space and smooth overflow. The wall laminate is also used in order to draw attention to the evenness of the surface, and correctly selected lighting will emphasize this even more.

In addition to horizontal solutions, vertical ones are also used. The first case is more suitable for small rooms for their visual expansion, the second - for rooms with low ceilings in order to visually “stretch” the walls.

An example of successful zoning, that is, the visual separation of one room from another.

Laminate can be used to decorate not only walls, but also, for example, columns, as in the above version, which includes a built-in modern fireplace.

Another option with a column.

Laminate looks great both on its own and in combination with additional elements, in this case with decorated tiles.

Color combinations

The color selection of a wall laminate, as a rule, does not cause difficulties for buyers, since in order not to be mistaken, it is enough to follow a number of simple rules. If you plan to place it on the entire surface of the wall, then its shade should be close to the tone of the other walls, or a coincidence in brightness level is desirable. There is another, contrasting option, but in this case there should be a combination with the color of the furniture.

The presented interior has a contrast in saturation. A less bright laminate wall is complemented by the same floor and sofa in the same colors.

If a separate area is covered with laminate, then to create an accent, the wall surrounding it must necessarily be in a contrasting color.

This photo shows the contrast of dark and light, which could be called classic, if not for its slightly “muffled” character.

With regard to specific colors, a wall laminate with a correctly selected composition can be combined with any prevailing color in the interior, the following examples prove this.
