Parquet looping what is it?

Parquet is one of the most prestigious and harmoniously fit into any interior flooring. However, it is quite whimsical in the care and periodically requires some repair. In this case, a grinder and a fresh can of varnish for coating come to the rescue.

Parquet looping - what is it?

Looping - this is nothing more than polishing the surface of wooden dies laid on the floor. Previously, a special “cycle” tool was used for this, which removed the top layer of wood on the panels manually.

Today, manual labor is not required, for these purposes there is a special apparatus - a polished machine. It is equipped with a drum with a layer of sandpaper. It removes the thin top layer from the laid coating, making the parquet even and beautiful. After the completion of the process, it remains only to varnish the flooring.

Important! Work can be done independently by renting a machine. Just keep in mind that this requires certain skills.

Parquet cycle pattern

An important stage before hitching is the preparatory stage. During this period, the master checks the degree of damage to the floor covering. If there are deep rotten dies on the entire surface of the floor, or if there are serious chips and cracks, damaged floor parts will need to be replaced. If the reason for the hitching is only to remove the obsolete varnish and update the floor surface, this procedure will work just fine.

It is also necessary to remove all the furniture from the room and dismantle the skirting boards. This is necessary because during operation there will be a large accumulation of dust and its movement around the room. It is necessary to remove the furniture from the room so that then you do not spend money on its thorough cleaning. Do not forget your own protection from dust, a respirator, a dressing gown, a disposable cap and gloves will protect the body from fine dust.

The scheme of work is as follows:

  • the floor is treated with sandpaper with coarse grain to remove a layer of old varnish and a slight leveling of the surface of the parquet;
  • then the turn comes to a finer grain of sandpaper for re-looping;
  • the third stage includes another scrolling procedure with the finest sandpaper or surface grinder, it will make the floor clean, smooth and even;
  • in hard-to-reach places a grinder or angle grinder is used;
  • if there are large gaps between the dies, they must be puttied with a special compound, which should dry before the finish scraper.

Important! Proper and competent hitching allows you to achieve a flat and clean surface before applying a layer of varnish. This will make the flooring strong, beautiful and durable.

When do you need to loop parquet?

The rounding should be carried out regularly, but the frequency and frequency of the procedure depends only on the state of the flooring. Experts advise to do looping in cases if:

  • parquet lacquer has faded, faded or darkened;
  • there are too many scratches, spoiling the aesthetic appearance of the coating;
  • there are stubborn marks and stains that can no longer be washed;
  • wide gaps began to form between the wood panels;
  • wood dice have lost their natural color;
  • a creak or a dull sound of floorboards is noticed.

There are situations when grinding is impossible or useless. This happens when the floor does not have the waterproofing layer laid in such cases and the parquet is exposed to aggressive moisture from below. Dies are damaged due to the movement of heavy furniture or bugs, mold and other parasites. But it is also useless to carry out the procedure in case of large gaps between the dies or damage them by getting wet.

Important! It is forbidden to carry out hauling at large elevations.

Advantages and disadvantages of parquet hitching

The main advantages of hitching is almost complete restoration of the original appearance of the parquet floor. Wooden dies acquire a natural beautiful color, even out, spots and scratches disappear. After hitching and varnishing the floor, it will delight the owners of the apartment with its noble and aesthetic appearance for a long time to come.

Among the disadvantages we can distinguish the impossibility of the process for some defects in the flooring, as well as the duration of the procedure and the complexity. Rounding must be carried out three times before covering the wooden parquet with a special varnish.
