DIY Christmas tree stand

On New Year's holidays, live spruce need to stand at least until Orthodox Christmas, and better - before the Old New Year (January 14). In total, spruce or pine costs 14-20 days. To keep it fresh throughout the period, it is recommended to make a special stand with water.

What you need to create a stand under the Christmas tree with water do-it-yourself

You can purchase a lock in the store, but it will not allow you to lower the end of the barrel into the water. Cheaper, faster and better to make the base yourself. There are several design options:

  1. With a bucket. Sand is poured inside or 1.5-2 liter bottles of water are placed to fix the tree. You can use garden soil instead of sand.
  2. From a plastic canister of 5 liters. In addition, a strong cylinder is required for fixing. It can be a bottle of cosmetics with the top and bottom cut off.
  3. Spacer. Unlike storefront appliances, it should rise a few centimeters so that a container of water can be placed down. Materials: 2-4 trimming MDF, bar or board, 8 screws.

Important: To prevent the wooden strut from sliding, it is recommended to use a sealant or anti-slip coating. This will allow you to install the design not only on the floor, but also on the table.

In all cases, you will need water, sugar and vinegar. Additives provide nutrition to the tree, do not allow it to dry prematurely. From tools it is important to prepare a ruler and a saw.

Build Features

The simplest assembly algorithm for a construction using a bucket. Water is poured into the tank, stones are placed at the bottom for stability. The barrel is fixed with their help or additional pegs. If sand acts as the main material, it is still simpler: no additional struts or weighting materials are needed. Spruce only needs to be screwed in for better fixation.

Attention: It is possible to ensure the freshness of the tree only if new cold water is added every 2-3 days. In this case, you need to add a teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of vinegar.

A wooden strut is the most difficult option, but at the same time the most aesthetic and reliable. It will take 4 trimming about 350 mm long and 100 mm wide. They are cut obliquely and joined together so that an empty space forms in the middle. Having fastened the parts with self-tapping screws (2 for each bar), you should cut the bottle of 1.5 liters by about half and pour water into it. The spruce trunk should go through the spacer and fall into the tank.

If you don’t have a bucket at hand, as well as materials and tools for a wooden strut, it will be convenient to make a stand out of a plastic canister. Having cut off the upper part with scissors, you need to place it on the bottom of the lower half, removing the cover. A cylinder is inserted into the neck, which will fix the barrel. The stand is suitable for young specimens, but a pine tree with a thick trunk will no longer fit.
