How to reset the printer

It so happens that a modern computer is hard to imagine without such a device as a printer. And really, what is the point of accumulating documents, articles, photographs on a computer - if there is no banal opportunity to present them in the form of a copy on a hard drive.

This is the opportunity provided by the printer. However, it often happens that he begins to live his own life and periodically refuses to work. No matter how hard we try to print something, the result is zero. In this case, you need to try to reboot the device.

In order to restart any device, all you need is just one button click. To do this, open the utility that is responsible for the work and in the "FILE" menu find the item "Restart". After that, it is enough to confirm the intention of your choice, and wait for the completion of the operation. The result of the operation should be reset all settings to factory settings. If something in the user settings was completely incorrect, then this operation will fix everything.

Why do I need to restart the printer?

The need to reboot may occur due to various reasons. This is a print failure, loading on the print after a paper jam and its removal. The need to reboot the device after refilling the cartridge. Such reasons can be listed almost indefinitely.

In the most elementary case, it is enough to press the device button and it will restart, but sometimes it fails and the device continues to refuse to work as needed. In other words, it does not work at all.

If it happened that the printer refused to print, then first of all pay attention to the following points:

  • whether the device is connected to the mains, to the computer;
  • are all drivers installed;
  • if the print goes to the network device, whether the local network is configured;

If everything that is listed is in order, it may very well be that the device refused to work, since a large number of documents have accumulated in its print queue. This is a fairly frequent case and it always leads to print failure.

The reason that leads to this is thoroughly unknown, but everything is solved very simply. You just need to clear the print queue.

To do this, go to the "control panel", find the "Printers" there, find the installed device and go to the "View Print Queue". There you will see a lot of rubbish - it is he who is the cause of failure.

Next you need to do the following steps:

  1. The printer should be disconnected from the power supply for a while.
  2. The computer needs to be restarted.
  3. If, after the PC has been restarted in the print queue, there are still files, then you need to select the document or documents and right-click the menu in which we select the "Cancel" option.

After everything is cleared, work should resume.

Instructions on how to reset the printer

Sometimes it is not necessary to reboot the printer, which usually does not cause difficulties even for inexperienced users, but it is necessary to restart the counter or reset it. This need arises after refilling the print cartridge.

The problem is that neither laser nor inkjet printing devices do not have built-in hardware capabilities for keeping records of the amount of dye remaining. To keep such records are used software techniques. All information is stored on the cartridge chip. And after it is filled, this information must be erased. In other words, reload or reset.

When the process of zeroing is performed, the information is not deleted on the device itself, on the cartridge chip. Many filling kits come with a special microboard, which should be replaced with an old one.

In inkjet color printers such chips, usually a few pieces, according to the number of cartridges used. And on each chip must be replaced. Otherwise, the normal use of refilled cartridges will simply be impossible, since the printer will continue to think that the ink has run out.

With laser devices, things are a little easier.

  • First remove the toner cartridge.

  • Use your finger to press the nulling sensor, which is located inside the printer. It can be found inside the unit on the left. It can be accessed through the paper feed tray.

  • Next you need to close the cover of the printer
  • When pressed, the sensor must be held until the device engine starts working.
  • As soon as the engine starts, release the sensor and after two seconds press it again until the engine stops.
  • Wait until the device is ready.
  • Now you can install a toner cartridge
  • This completes the restart of the print cartridge.
