Preparation of materials and tools for sewing the roller in the crib

How to sew a roller in a crib? All markings for the cut can be made directly on the fabric, the pattern in this case is not needed. The side will differ from the usual decorative pillow-roller by the presence of ties for attaching to the bed.

Important! Before sewing, you need to determine the type of product. It will be a single-layer version with a filler or a two-layer version with a cover. The latter is much more convenient since it can be easily removed and washed.

Consider an example of a two-layer product, yet it is the most practical.

For sewing you will need:

  • Plain cotton fabric for the roller itself;
  • Colored fabric with a pattern for a cover;
  • Filler - synthetic winterizer or holofiber;
  • Threads in tone;
  • Any round object of suitable diameter.
  • Scissors;
  • Pins
  • Ruler and chalk for marking.

When sewing, you need to start from the bottom of the roller. You can find a lid or plate of suitable diameter and transfer to a plain fabric. Make two identical circles.

After this, you need to measure the circumference of the future bottom and this will be the width of the roller. To find out the length of the future roller, you should determine the perimeter of the crib and divide it by the estimated number of pads. When the width and length are known, you can draw a rectangle with allowances of 1 cm on all sides.

A similar rectangle needs to be prepared for colored fabric. For the cover you will need strips 30 * 4 cm. But circles for the cover will not be needed.

Important! The number of ties depends on the length of the roller. If it is small, then you need 3 ties - 1 in the middle and 2 at the edges. If it is long, then in the middle you need to sew 2 stitches, that is, you will need 4 in total.

When all the details are cut, we begin sewing from the base. Rectangles of plain fabric stitch along the length. From the inside, we sew the first bottom to one of the holes.

We do exactly the same with the second bottom, only you don’t have to sew 6-10 cm. After that, you need to turn it on the front side, fill it with filler and sew it with a blind stitch. The foundation is ready.

When sewing a cover, you should start with the ties. For a smaller case, we sew one tie in the center, and for a long one - 2 ties in the middle at the same distance. There is no need to sew to the edges, because they can simply be tied after.

The blank for the cover needs to be sewn so that the ties are on the front side. After that, you need to bend the edges and flash. After it can be put on the roller.

When sewing, remember the following:

  1. Any sides should be safe in the first place. The finish is sewn firmly. It is better to refuse beads and buttons, and the lightning should be safely hidden. Tissues and fillers should not cause allergies. The criterion for choosing the fabric is exactly the same as when sewing blankets in a bed - on a cotton basis and preferably softer, especially in the case of covers, do not forget about the tactile sensations when in contact with the product.
  2. To make the roller in the crib more chubby, you can quilted the cover with the same padding polyester, which is sold in rolls.

In any case, the self-made sides will more please the child than the factory counterparts. After all, kids always feel warmth and care!
