DIY printer

To transfer information from a computer database to a print format on paper, there are various printers. Nowadays, thanks to the development of technologies, models of inkjet, laser, LED and even 3D printers have been created. In stores you can find a huge assortment of devices in different price categories. If you wish, you can choose a model with a favorable combination of price and feature set.

If you have free time and desire, you can create equipment yourself. To do this, read information on the principle of operation of the equipment. Of course, many details may differ from the original versions, but you can assemble a printer that performs the basic task of printing files.

If desired, you can perform any work. To do this, you will need a step-by-step plan, the availability of source materials and tools with which you will perform the work. If you already have a ready-made plan and design scheme, you can proceed with its assembly. However, in the case of the first attempt to assemble the printer with your own hands, you will need to search for the necessary information, prepare the layout of the electrical circuit and microcircuits for the full operation of the system. This is a rather complicated process, which will require knowledge of computer technology and appropriate education in this area of human knowledge.

Important! Carry out the work carefully, observing safety requirements, since the assembly process is connected with electrical circuits and elements connected to a current source. Use personal protective equipment when working.

If you decide to develop and create your own printer, you will need to purchase the following set of tools and materials:

  • Parts for the frame, metal beams and sheets, crosses, bolts, clamps.
  • A set of chips and boards for the implementation of the system.
  • Power supply with an engine.
  • Drivers for installation on a computer.
  • Guide rails and carriage to advance the print head.
  • Special desktop with heating element.
  • A set of wires to connect.
  • A set of consumables and tools: insulating tape, adhesive tape, a system of tubes for plastic supply channels, a soldering iron, plastic made of a polymeric material.

If desired, you can pick up additional tools for convenience, as well as replace materials with improved properties and quality. We considered only the primary set for the regular version of the equipment with a basic set of functionality.

For the first model, it is recommended to use a ready-made product plan. After you have prepared the necessary details (they can be ordered via the Internet), you can proceed with the assembly. The process consists of the following main steps:

  1. Assemble the frame of the product on which all the main structural elements will be mounted.
  2. Install a power supply with stepper motors.
  3. After that, install the guide rails with carriages in three axes to advance the print nozzle and form the part.
  4. Connect the drivers inside the main body of the printer.
  5. According to the circuit diagram, connect all the parts with wires, install microcircuits and sensors.
  6. Load plastic into a special compartment, after connecting the device, do a test print.

For more detailed information, you must contact the workshop or consult with a specialist. You will be prompted by the features of the technique and advised on possible assembly options.
