What is t con for TVs

One of the most significant elements of innovative LCD panels is T-CON. The T-CON microcircuit provides a clear capture and conversion of incoming data from the video controller, as well as their efficient distribution over column and row systems.

What is T-CON for TVs?

The microcircuit performs re-encoding of the signals coming from the video controller into the signals of the driver control system.

REFERENCE! Such elements make up the LCD-panels, forming a non-separable module, which virtually eliminates the possibility of carrying out maintenance, detecting breakdowns and repair work. But at the same time, the probability of failure is minimal. Some models are characterized by the availability of electronic systems in the panel, which allows specialists to quickly and professionally restore performance.

Modern monitors are formed by matrices on liquid crystals from a huge number of cells. And to realize the addressing between them is almost impossible. And the only way out in this situation is multiplexing. This means that all elements of the picture are located at the intersection of the electrode system. In order to increase the degree of manufacturability of the product and reduce the weight and size parameters, the keys are endowed with an integral design, i.e., are produced in the form of microcircuits.

The standard layout of the module is as follows:

The features of such a chip are:

  • 6-bit system interface;
  • maintaining the resolution of the XGA standard;
  • the presence of an input for connecting a phase-locked loop;
  • resistance to electrostatic discharges, the value of which can vary from 2 to 4 kV according to LVDS, depending on the chosen model;
  • Immunity to electromagnetic interference.

Main functions:

  1. Converting information from the LVDS bus (the latest TV models have 2). The module synchronizes with LVDS and encrypts the incoming data into the RSDS bus.
  2. It creates the main impulses and signals for the matrix drivers for raster compilation.
  3. A DC-DC converter is used to provide power to the drivers, a digital-to-analog converter. It is capable of reproducing over 15 voltages.

The main types of the T-CON module can be conditionally subdivided depending on the location:

  • on a horizontal bar;
  • built on an independent board;
  • on the motherboard.

The ability to diagnose and carry out repair work may be complicated or impossible due to the inseparability of the chip itself.
